The Greatest Gift Ever
How many times have you heard
it said that people are missing the true message of Christmas? Well,
most folk do miss the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is not
about feasting and frolicking.
Christmas is about the Lord Jesus
Christ and His mission to save the souls of men.
A Great Video
Recently we found a great Christmas video called, "The
Greatest Gift Ever." We have included a link to that video on
our links page, but it is so good we want to include it here also.

He wasn't "born" in Bethlehem.
No, Christ was not "born" in Bethlehem. The Lord Jesus Christ is
eternal God, Who existed from eternity past along with God the Father
and God the Holy Ghost.
The Scriptures tell us that the Lord Jesus was the creator of Heaven
and Earth and that all things "were made by Him and for Him."
The Lord Jesus became incarnate at Bethlehem. In other words, He left
Heaven and took on a body ... a body just like ours. The Bible puts it
this way, "And the Word [Jesus] was made
flesh, and dwelt among us ..." John 1:14
He came to Earth with a mission.
The Lord Jesus Christ left
Heaven and came to Earth with a mission. He stated His mission clearly
in Luke 19:10, "The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which
was lost."
So, who was lost, what was going to happen to them, and why did
The Lord Jesus care?
Firstly, all of mankind was lost. The Scriptures
state quite plainly that "all have sinned." We all need a Saviour.
Secondly, the "wages of sin is death." The
unsaved will spend all of eternity in the horrible place of "the
second death.
Thirdly, He loved us as only God can. Christ
volunteered to bear our punishment because of His great love for us.
He fulfilled His mission.
On the cross of Calvary, the Lord Jesus Christ was
heard to cry, "It is finished."
The Lord Jesus Christ had paid the penalty of our sin
IN FULL by suffering the agonies of Hell in our place. The
Scriptures say that "He became sin for us."
Having paid our sin debt, and having fulfilled His mission, He bowed
His head and allowed His spirit to leave His body.
He rose from the dead.
The Lord Jesus was taken from the cross and placed
into a borrowed tomb, but He didn't stay dead. The
Lord rose from the dead on the third day just as He said He would.
He is coming again.
Having risen from the dead, the Lord Jesus spent 40
days walking the Earth and teaching His disciples. One day, as His
disciples watched, He slowly ascended up to Heaven.
Jesus promised His disciples, "I will come again."
The Lord Jesus came to Earth the first time in humility and
service. He will come the second time in glory and judgment.
Christmas and Easter are two chapters of the
same story.
As you celebrate Christmas this year, remember the Babe
of Bethlehem is "Almighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of
Peace."
We must conclude by reminding each of you, that while
Christ did pay your sin debt for you that does not
mean you will automatically go to Heaven. There are two conditions to
salvation. Your sins are only
forgiven when you turn to Christ in repentance and faith.
